Like all successful businesses, JobFinders started with an idea—a seed that was planted and nurtured into a living, breathing organization that helps individuals and companies alike. The years weren’t without storms, however.
JobFinders was born in August 1986 as a small recruiting firm and went through the typical growing pains of a small business. Over the years, JobFinders began opening new service lines and developing niche markets like manufacturing, engineering, distribution and IT. The trajectory was pointed upward.
Then Sept. 11, 2001, shook us to the core. As a business, JobFinders had to scramble to shore up funding when banks seized up in fear. An employee came to the rescue with a short-term loan, and operations smoothed out over the next 15 months. The banks froze up again during the financial crisis of 2008, but JobFinders managed to get by. It wasn’t until 2010 when owner Anne Williams, spurred by a Small Business Administration loan, a complete staff turnover and some insightful consulting help, decided to take a more proactive approach to growth.
Anne thought long and hard when the consultant asked “why aren’t you growing more?” Fear, mostly. The company was doing fine and making decent money. The consultant showed Anne what was being left on the table and challenged her to grow and meet the needs of the community. Sales have exploded since that fateful decision, sometimes as much as 500% from the previous year. JobFinders has been on Inc Magazine’s list of the fastest growing private companies in America for four consecutive years, and an amazing staff is in place to make sure the next 30 years are as successful as the first.
